ILÊWASI 2.0 is an e-volunteering project which aims at connecting Spanish people who volunteer in Latin American countries like Brazil and Columbia, Africa (e.g. Benin) and Asia (e.g. Pakistan). What do they do?

 

They:

  • help to translate materials from Spanish to French, from Spanish to English and also from Spanish to Valenciano to promote local language.
  • organize an online course on Child Rights for volunteers from Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Germany, Pakistan, Mexico, Portugal and Spain.
  • use new technologies (ICTs) in collaboration for making social projects – so far they’ve organized one week long residential Summer School on Child Rights and Peace Education (27 June – 1 July 2011).
  • run an online course with partners in Columbia, Peru and Brazil for ‘young entrepreneurs’ who would like to initiate a microcredit projects in their countries.

ILEWASI pays strong attention to the communication among its virtual volunteers.  They organize events for volunteers, weekly meetings and when they’re not able to meet in the real world, they use Skype and other modes of video chatting. Moreover, they take the advantage of the potential social media: ILEWASI got its blog and the fan page on Facebook.

Whom do they address their activity to? Who is the recipient?

Spanish –English and Spanish-French Translation for the La Plataforma del Voluntariat Social de la Comunitat Valenciana (Social Volunteer Platform of Valencian Community) which is the member of the CEV. Furthermore, major recipients of these activities are the Valencian community, schools in special and members of participants countries.
