EESTEC Lykeion portal is a place where students, companies and universities can directly reach each other. Lykeion is joining highly qualified and motivated students, companies and universities in Europe inside a common platform, allowing them to advertise themselves, search the database for published information and, as a result, establish a new communication channel between all three. The huge advantage of this project is its internationality, interactivity and individuality. All students have a chance to boost up their international career in an international platform by making contacts with company and university representatives and having communication in a joint platform. Lykeion portal is a place which allows students to search for internships, jobs, Bachelor, Master and PhD study programmes simply by registering on the portal. Lykeion portal gives students the possibility to conduct database searches using a variety of parameters, store recruitment information for compliance, correspond with companies via messaging system and track their favorite companies. Who are the e-volunteers?

E-volunteers in our project are members of our organisation. They are members of our IT team, CR and Promotion team. As we wrote we first sent a call for the ones who wants to participate in the project and also contacted some members that are active and have experience in this field. For the ones who applied, we reviewed their applications and chose whether they were to become a part of the project. E-volunteers are young people, between 20 and 26 years, members of EESTEC and students from engineering universities all over Europe.

Whom do they address the project to? Who is the recipient?

Lykeion was designed as a powerful platform that will strengthen the relationship between companies, universities and young engineers from all over Europe. Lykeion’s targets are engineering students, engineering companies and engineering universities.

How do they verify the e-volunteers’ competences before they start the co-operation with them?

At the beginning of every year, there is a call for volunteers who wants to join the team. For each position there is a list of responsibilities and well as qualification papers that applicants have to fill in. When they apply, depending of task they applied for, several more experienced members, evaluate their applications and their achievements in past, so they are assigned to best fitting position for them in the team. Their applications are being checked with their local committee representatives, too. In that way we get a clear and full picture about the applicant and whether he/she is capable and ready to do the job. If an applicant shows huge motivation, but he/she doesn’t have enough experience, we offer a mentor – the person who will guide him/her and prepare for future work.

How do they ensure the safety and the quality of the e-volunteers’ work?

We ensure quality through the already mentioned mentor system and also through contact with our alumni members who have a lot of experience in this area. By participating in this project everyone has direct contact with all companies and universities that are associated with Lykeion.
